Demons are the biggest threat to mankind

Earth is overrun by demons. They come out of dark forests in at night, leaving a trail of death and rot in their wake. They swim out of volcanic fissures in our deepest ocean trenches. They swarm out of ancient mountain crevices and descend on our cities and towns, rampaging, killing, and devouring millions. What were once thriving metropolises are now smoking ruins.

Humans now live in perpetual fear of these cunning, merciless, and Satanic entities. Why have they chosen now to come out of the darkness? The only thing we know is that our race was caught completely unprepared. Well, almost completely...

You are a student of DemoniCore

One small niche of humanity has been preparing for this Hellish onslaught for centuries. The Brethren of DemoniCore is an ancient society that has passed their teachings, customs, and spellbooks from one generation to the next, with the singular goal of keeping humanity alive when the demon hordes inevitably rose from the depths of Hell.

You are one of the most recent Initiates into the DemoniCore order. Like all of the Brethren, you knew this day would come, but the speed and ferocity of the demonic onslaught has taken everyone by surprise. You and your DemoniCore brothers and sisters are the last hope for humanity.

How to slay a demon

Humans cannot defeat demons while they are amassed in hordes. While their chaotic nature makes them loathe each other's company more often than not, they are intelligent and understand their strength in numbers. Demons invoke a protective mesh, formed by overlapping Hellish incantations, that makes them practically invulnerable to modern weapons.

The only way to slay a demon is to isolate it, and then attack it within a circle of protection, from which it cannot escape or summon help. The Brethren of DemoniCore are skilled in Conjuring these beasts, ripping them from one of their 9 Circles of Hell, and battling them in a holy circle on Hallowed ground of the Brethren's choosing. It is slow work, slaying demons one at a time, but it is the only way to whittle down their massive numbers.
